Caterpillars and butterflies smell with their antennae and taste with their feet and don’t have noses or lungs like a lot of animals. Insects have tiny holes in the sides of their bodies called ‘spiracles,’ that draw oxygen into their bodies and into a trachea. Their blood also doesn’t carry oxygen like ours, because they’re so small the trachea system is enough to distribute oxygen through their bodies.
